Rushmore Primary School – Creating a Creative Legacy

The Brief

To celebrate its 150th anniversary, Rushmore Primary School wanted more than a commemorative artwork. They wanted a project that involved every child, celebrated the local community, strengthened the school's identity and created a lasting legacy with fundraising potential.

The Process

Working with teachers and pupil art leaders, we developed a brief inspired by Clapton's landmarks. Pupils explored their local area through observation and sketching before each landmark was divided into 'jigsaw' sections, allowing every child to create one unique piece.

The 360 individual drawings were brought together into a collection of final artworks, including a large-scale reception map, exterior light boxes, a commemorative newspaper and a range of prints and merchandise.

The Result

Every child became part of a permanent artwork that will remain at the heart of the school for years to come. The project culminated in a school exhibition where families celebrated the work and purchased prints and merchandise, generating funds for future creative projects.

More than an artwork, the project strengthened the school's identity, celebrated its community and left behind a creative legacy owned by every pupil.
